Full Journal pdf2008-03-04 Senate Journal Page 2085 SJR 12 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 12 Opposing proposed changes to the interpretation of the Passenger Vessel Services Act of June 19, 1886, by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, affecting cruise itineraries of foreign-flagged vessels transporting passengers to ports in Alaska, was read the second time. Senator McGuire, Chair, moved and asked unanimous consent for the adoption of the State Affairs Committee Substitute offered on page 2027. Without objection, CS FOR SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 12(STA) Requesting that Alaska be exempt from changes to the interpretation of the Passenger Vessel Services Act of June 19, 1886, proposed by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, affecting cruise itineraries of foreign-flagged vessels transporting passengers to ports in Alaska; or, if Alaska is not exempted, opposing the proposed changes to the interpretation of that Act, was adopted. 2008-03-04 Senate Journal Page 2086 Senator Ellis moved and asked unanimous consent that the resolution be considered engrossed, advanced to third reading and placed on final passage. Without objection, it was so ordered. CS FOR SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 12(STA) was read the third time. The question being: "Shall CS FOR SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 12(STA) Requesting that Alaska be exempt from changes to the interpretation of the Passenger Vessel Services Act of June 19, 1886, proposed by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, affecting cruise itineraries of foreign-flagged vessels transporting passengers to ports in Alaska; or, if Alaska is not exempted, opposing the proposed changes to the interpretation of that Act, pass the Senate?" The roll was taken with the following result: CSSJR 12(STA) Third Reading - Final Passage YEAS: 17 NAYS: 0 EXCUSED: 3 ABSENT: 0 Yeas: Bunde, Cowdery, Davis, Ellis, Elton, French, Green, Hoffman, Huggins, Kookesh, McGuire, Olson, Stedman, Stevens, Thomas, Wielechowski, Wilken Excused: Dyson, Therriault, Wagoner and so, CS FOR SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 12(STA) passed the Senate and was referred to the Secretary for engrossment.
